Communication difficulties present healthcare professionals with barriers to the delivery of safe, high quality care. Bespoke Interpreting, Language and Communication Services (BILCS), which is part of NHS Midlands and Lancashire CSU, provides interpreting and translation services on behalf of a range of NHS organisations and local authorities.
We provide language, communication and interpreting support in more than 100 languages. We are committed to ensuring equal access to health services for all irrespective of language barriers or hearing and/or sight impairment. Our aim is to ensure; effective communication, safe support and care of people using their local NHS services. Our clients include GP surgeries, Opticians, Dentists, NHS Hospital Trusts, NHS Community Trusts and a range of private and third sector organisations.
Support offered by BILCS includes Interpreting, Language Translation, Written Transcription. We also provide an out-of-hours telephone interpreting service, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The team already works extensively across the West Midlands – making a positive difference to patients’ lives – and is capable of supporting clients in other areas.
